Things to know about repairs
When requesting repair
- Repairs are intended to restore the functionality of damaged gear. However, these repairs will not restore the design or appearance to a brand new state.
- If repair of an item is not possible, we will contact you in advance to inform you of the reason. The item will be returned to you as is.
- Please clearly indicate the area(s) in need of repair with an object such as tape.
About items and requests that cannot be accepted for repair
- Items containing blood, filth, or excessive amounts of animal hair
- Substantially soiled items, or items with strong odors
- Wet items
- Clothing worn directly on the skin such as socks, base layers, etc.
- Items that have been altered or modified
- Items that cannot be repaired due to the product lifespan
- Items that are structurally unrepairable
About shipping charges
- Shipping is free worldwide. Please contact us for repair arrangements.
- No shipping fee will be charged if the repair is requested, brought in, and picked up at a Montbell Store in Japan.
About repair turnaround time
- Turnaround time depends on the season and the number of places that need repair.
- For repairs involving estimates, the turnaround time will be longer.
- We will send you an email regarding the expected turnaround time after we have received the repair item(s) in question.
We recommend getting repairs done during the off-season.
We are often busy with repairs for tents, rainwear and hiking boots from June to August, and with repairs for down insulation from December to March. If you request a repair outside of the peak season, the turnaround time will be shorter.
Montbell Warranty Policy
We provide a warranty (Note 1) to the original owner for the duration of the product's effective lifespan (Note 2), limited to defects in materials and workmanship. The acceptable product lifespan and scope of limited warranty are determined at our discretion. This policy applies only to products purchased from the Montbell Group or authorized retailers.
(Examples) Problems occurring due to insufficient washing/maintenance; loss of water repellency and/or waterproofing, reduction in down loft, peeling or separation of seam tape due to oil contamination. For Montbell's recommended maintenance, please refer to the following link:
Note 1: The warranty limited to all defects in materials and workmanship does not apply to normal wear and tear, damage due to misuse or excessive use, accidental damage, product modifications, or damage resulting from improper care. The following are examples of what is not covered by the limited warranty, but this list is not exhaustive:
- Loss of product functionality due to lack of maintenance recommended by Montbell
