One Shell for All Weather
The latest rain shell models have high breathability and excellent stretchability: the 'Torrent Flyer Jacket' and the 'DRYTEC Stretch Rain Pants'. These lightweight, flexible, and easy-to-move items are recommended for activities that involve a high level of physical exertion.
Stretch for stress-free movement
The garments utilize our proprietary waterproof and breathable material, 'DRYTEC,' which offers excellent stretch. Furthermore, we have incorporated articulation in areas requiring a greater range of motion, such as the elbows and knees, allowing the garments to adapt effortlessly to dynamic movements. Additional characteristics include lightweight construction and notable flexibility compared to traditional materials, which enhance comfort.
Waterproof breathable fabric "DRYTEC" with high breathability
Among the waterproof and breathable materials we use at Montbell, this is the material that achieves the best breathability and high water resistance. While protecting against wind and rain from the outside, it efficiently releases excess heat and moisture during activity, keeping the inside of the garment comfortable.

The outer fabric balances high levels of stretch and abrasion resistance
The outer fabric uses our proprietary material "Ballistic Airlight", which is extremely lightweight yet boasts excellent abrasion resistance. We have achieved a high level of both stretch and abrasion resistance, typically considered difficult to combine, by carefully examining factors such as fabric density and the method used to adhere the waterproof breathable membrane.
A lining with a smooth, dry feel that doesn't retain moisture
The lining is made of fabric woven with high-density, specially designed nylon yarns that are highly water-resistant. This results in a supple texture and a crisp, dry feel against the skin.
Eco-Friendly Material
Torrent Flier fabric does not use PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), which are of concern due to their environmental impact. The lining uses nylon made from 60% plant-based materials. This reduces the use of petroleum-based materials and also helps to lower carbon dioxide emissions.
Features and functions of the Torrent Flier Jacket
The hood is easily adjustable in three places, featuring a proprietary design for an enhanced fit. It follows the movement of your face, ensuring a good field of vision.
The 'Zip-Adjust System' allows for quick adjustment of the hood's fit by simply sliding the collar zipper up and down.
The pockets are positioned to minimize interference with backpack harnesses and straps.
The 'Alpine Cuff' allows for precise adjustment of the fit around the cuff. It also helps prevent the intrusion of rain and cold air.
The fit of the hem is easily adjusted by simply pulling the draw cords on both sides.
The hood rolls inward and is secured to the loop on the inside of the collar using the hook-and-loop adjuster on the top of the hood.
Zipper that helps keep out water. Since a storm flap isn't necessary on the outer side, it's easy to open and close, contributing to weight reduction as well.
A folded flap is provided on the inside of the front zipper to prevent any water that might seep through the zipper.
Equipped with a reflective strip that increases visibility around traffic at night (front zipper only).
By removing the extra fabric along the seams, we are able to reduce weight and ensure waterproofing with seam tape.
Every single thread is treated with a water-repellent finish.
Comes with a stuff sack for compact storage.

Features and functions of the DRYTEC Stretch Rain Pants
The front zipper features both a flap and a fold-over design to prevent water penetration.
The front zipper is treated with a water-repellent finish to repel water.
The inner-lower-leg seams are shifted toward the back to help reduce chafing during walking and improve long-lasting wear.
The elastic cord at the hem allows for adjustment of the pant length and helps prevent the bottom from flapping, which is particularly useful when wearing longer pants.
Convenient bottom zipper for easy putting on and taking off shoes (Note: You cannot put on or take off the pants while wearing shoes).
Helps keep out water with its water-resistant zipper. Since a storm flap isn't necessary on the exterior, it's easy to open and close, contributing to weight reduction.
It stores compactly in the included stuff sack.

The importance of care and maintenance
"Washing" is essential to maintaining performance over time
The Torrent Flier's water repellent does not use PFAS (perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances), which are of concern due to their environmental impact. While the non-PFAS water repellent components have initial performance comparable to PFAS-containing ones, they are less durable due to their lower ability to repel oil. To prevent this, it's important to wash the garment frequently to thoroughly remove contaminants, like dirt. Additionally, applying heat through a dryer or iron helps restore the water repellent treatment to its original state, maintaining water repellency. With proper maintenance, it's possible to balance rainwear performance with reduced environmental impact.
